The delegation of the MPS attended a government-level conference on artificial intelligence (AI) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center on June 24. Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh delivered a presentation on solutions to effectively providing public services in association with the management and development of a smart city model to ensure welfare, safety and security indicators in the age of the 4th industrial revolution.
His report also gave some guidelines on development strategy and management of AI for development of a smart city model. The presentation drew much attention from delegates, and some met and shared with Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh several related issues, opening opportunity AI technology cooperation between Vietnam and international parties.
The MPS delegation also had meeting with US Senate and House of Representatives staff groups, discussing issues related to democracy, human rights and religious freedom on June 25 at the headquarters of the US Congress.
The hosts appreciated the visit by the MPS delegation and hoped that the cooperation between the relevant functional agencies of the U.S and the MPS of Vietnam would be further promoted in the future. Deputy Minister Thanh and other members of the Vietnamese delegation clarified Vietnam’s views, policies and achievements in the fields of democracy, human rights and religious freedom and some provisions in Vietnam's Criminal Code related tonational security.
The delegation of the MPS also visited and worked with the Educational Testing Service (ETS) on June 27 in Princeton, New Jersey. The two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on improving English command for officials and lecturers at the MPS training facilities.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh on June 28 met with Mr. Alexandre Zouev, Assistant Secretary-General for Rule of Law and Security Institutions.
On July 1, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh and the Vietnamese delegation worked with the leadership of Certiport, a U.S firm providing IT exam development, in Salt Lake City. Deputy Minister Thanh witnessed the signing of an agreement on improving MPS training institutions’ capacity of using information technology between the MPS and IIG Vietnam, the official representative of Certiport Group - US VUE Person in Vietnam. The signing ceremony took place at the Utah's City Hall.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Thanh also met with Mr. Gery Herbert, Governor of Utah.
