High-ranking delegation of MPS attends NATSEC Asia 2018

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security led a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) to attend the National Security Asia 2018 (NATSEC Asia 2018) and the 16th Edition of the Defence Services Asia Exhibition and Conference (DSA) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from April 15 to 18, at the invitation of Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi.

The NATSEC Asia 2018 and DSA 16 are major and prestigious events in the security and defense sector, held every two years by the Malaysian Government. This year’s exhibition and conference saw more than 150 international delegations, headed by leaders of the military, security and police forces of 63 countries.

Key meetings of the DSA 16 included the Putrajaya Forum; Discussion on the role of the Army in ensuring security against terrorism and extremism; cyber safety in the security and defense sector; workshop on chemical, biological, nuclear and radioactive explosives; workshop on unmanned aerial vehicles; workshop on women's leadership at security and defense forums. The delegation of the MPS of Vietnam participated in major activities within the framework of the Exhibition and Conference.

On the sidelines, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam on April 17 held talks with Mr. Datuk Nur Jazlan bin Mohamed, Vice Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia.

At the talk, the two sides reviewed the results of the bilateral cooperation and mapped out orientations for cooperation in the coming time. Both sides agreed to continue promoting cooperation in many areas and effectively implement the agreements signed between the heads of the two Ministries. They emphasized the need to organize the first meeting of the Joint Working Group to implement the agreement between the two governments on transnational crime prevention signed in 2015.

In addition, the two sides agreed to negotiate agreements on the transfer of sentenced persons, agreement on the prevention and fight against human trafficking, agreement on extradition to perfect legal frameworks to facilitate the cooperation between the two sides. Both sides also agreed on a number of other cooperation contents in order to concretize the strategic partnership between the two countries.
