Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam emphasized that the Vietnam-Australia Strategic Partnership has seen new positive developments even in the complicated situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since the relationship was shifted to a Strategic Partnership in March 2018, bilateral cooperation activities between the two countries have dynamically increased in all fields. Particularly, the two sides maintained 19 bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Economic Partnership Conference at the ministerial level, the Security Dialogue at the deputy ministerial level between the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Australian Ministry of Home Affairs, and other important mechanisms.
Minister To Lam confirmed that the MPS of Vietnam will coordinate with the Australian Federal Police to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding on police cooperation and organized crime prevention, share crime information, conduct joint investigation of drug-related crimes and cyber crime, and build personnel capacity.
Ambassador Robyn Mudie thanked the Minister To Lam for his reception and congratulated the Vietnamese MPS on its being recently awarded the First Class “Military Exploit” Medal by the Party and State on its 75th founding anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces.
Ambassador Robyn Mudie affirmed that she would further promote cooperation between the Australian agencies and the MPS of Vietnam, saying that this is an important factor for the two sides to create confidence and promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of mutual concern.
