Minister To Lam receives international guests

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Member of the Politburo, Minister of Public Security on March 27, received a delegation of the Ministry of Security of Laos led by its Minister Somkeo Silavong.

Minister To Lam underscored that, on the basis of the cooperation plan 2018 signed by both the Ministries last January, the public security forces of the two countries have coordinated closely in preventing and fighting crimes. Particularly, the police forces of the two countries have cooperatedin successfully eliminating illegal cross-border drug trafficking rings, as well as identifying and arresting all involved.

On the occasion of the Traditional Bunpimay of the Lao people, Minister To Lam extended his best wishes to the Party, State and people of Laos and hoped that the cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security would be further strengthened in all aspects.

Minister Somkeo Silavong thanked the MPS of Vietnam and Minister To Lam for the warm reception. He highly appreciated the political trust and fine relations between the two countries, the regular and effective support and coordination between the two ministries at international forums, contributing to protecting national interests of each country.

On the afternoon of the same day, Minister To Lam also received a delegation of the US-ASEAN Business Council led by its President & CEO, Mr. Alexander Feldman.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam emphasized that the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and the United States has seen strong developments and achieved many important outcomes in the past years, thanksto the practical and effective contributions of the US-ASEAN Business Council and US enterprises, who hadboosted economic, trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and the United States. Minister To Lam hoped that, in the coming time, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the US-ASEAN Business Council and US businesses would continue to expanding cooperationin the fields of mutual interest, especially in prevention and fight against crimes, cyber security, fire prevention and fighting.

Mr. Feldman thanked Minister Lam for his reception and expressed his delight at the fine developments in the relations of the two countries over the past time. He also hoped that the Government of Vietnam, the MPS would further facilitate investment from the US, contributing to promoting the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.
