Minister To Lam receives the UK’s Minister of State

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General To Lam, Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, on January 2, received Mr. Mark Field, Minister of State at the Foreign Office of the United Kingdom (UK) on his working visit in Vietnam.


An overview of the reception.

Speaking at the reception, Minister To Lam affirmed that the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security (MPS) will effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding between the two governments on prevention and fight against human trafficking signed in November 2018. He hoped that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UK would create favorable conditions for the UK and the Vietnamese law enforcement agencies to efficiently realize contents of the deal.

In addition, Minister To Lam suggested the Government of the UK continue to further support Vietnam in strengthening capacity of the police force, promote exchange of information and provide technical equipment for the Vietnamese side to control organized crime, high-tech crime and cybercrime more effectively. The host also proposed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UK to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to get visas, resident permits and work permits so that they can live and work legally in the UK.

Mr. Mark Field expressed sincere thanks to Minister To Lam for the reception, and stated that the UK Government always attaches much importance to boosting cooperation with the Vietnamese Government. He hoped the cooperation between the Vietnamese MPS and the UK’s law enforcement agencies will develop in depth, and achieve practical results contributing to maintaining national security, ensuring social order and safety of each country.
