Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh said since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vietnam and Romania have always maintained their good traditional friendship and cooperation based on the principle of respect for each other’s national sovereignty and mutual benefits in the fields of politics, economics, trade, investment, culture and education. In recent years, the two countries have actively supported each other on multilateral forums such as the United Nations (UN) and Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM).
In the context of increased and complicated crimes, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are negotiating an agreement between the Governments of Vietnam and Romania on cooperation in preventing and fighting terrorism, organized crimes and other crimes, in line with the two sides’ policy on expanding cooperation with their partners.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Thanh suggested that the MPS and law enforcement agencies of Romania promote cooperation, share information and experience, and coordinate to prevent and fight various types of crime.
He also hoped that relevant agencies of Romania would create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live and do business legally in Romania.
Ambassador Valerui Arteni thanked Deputy Minister Thanh for the kind reception and expressed his delight at the fine relations between the two countries. He also believed that the relationship between the two countries and between the MPS of Vietnam and relevant agencies of Romania would further develop and gain more achievements in all cooperation fields, contributing to ensuring security and social order and safety of each country.
