Vietnam, Japan agree to boost police cooperation

MPS - General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, had an online meeting with Mr. Tanahashi Yasufumi, Minister of State, and Chairperson of the National Public Safety Commission of Japan on July 14.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam and Mr. Tanahashi Yasufumi discussed issues of mutual concern and agreed on a number of cooperation contents in the coming time.

The two officials also exchanged messages of the two countries' senior leaders stressing the importance of strengthening the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan as well as supporting each other at international and regional forums and exchanging delegations of all levels. 

The two officials also agreed to expand cooperation in ensuring security and safety for senior leaders of one country visiting the other, major friendship events taking place in each country as well as in protecting representative offices and citizens of each country in the other country.

General To Lam expressed hope that Japan will continue supporting the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam via projects and non-project assistance.

In 2023, the two sides will coordinate to organize celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to resume exchange of delegations of all levels after the COVID-19 pandemic.
