Vietnam, Myanmar promote security cooperation

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, on January 8, received a delegation of the Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs led by Mr. Zaw Khin Aung, Police Commander of Shan State.

Speaking at the reception, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam affirmed that the comprehensive cooperation partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar has been further strengthened and developed. Vietnam highly values the achievements of the Government and the people of Myanmar in the national reconciliation process, socio-economic development and foreign relations over the past time.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs have successfully fulfilled cooperative contents and achieved a number of important results in the field of security and police, in recent years.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam believed that the working visit of Mr. Zaw Khin Aung had contributed to deepening the relations between the two countries in general, cooperation between the two ministries in particular. He also suggested that, in the coming time, the two sides should continue to promote cooperation between police forces of the two countries’ localities, focusing on professional training, delegations exchange, and sharing of information and experience in fighting crimes, especially drug-related crime.

Mr. Zaw Khin Aung thanked Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam for the warm reception. He spoke highly of the good bilateral relations based on political trust between the two countries, the close coordination and mutual support between the two ministries, which has helped protect national interests and security of each nation. Mr. Zaw Khin Aung affirmed that, in his position, he will strive to bring friendly relations between the two countries and cooperation between the two ministries to a new height.
