Vietnam, UK promote crime control

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, Deputy Minister of Public Security had a meeting with Ms. Amanda Milling, Minister of State for Asia, the United Kingdom Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, on March 29.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the Vietnamese Government always attaches importance to developing ties with the UK and considers the UK as one of the top priorities in Vietnam's foreign policy for peace, cooperation and development.

Regarding the bilateral cooperation in crime prevention and control, the two sides have effectively implemented the "Agreement on mutual legal assistance", the "Memorandum of Understanding on migration issues", and the "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fight against crime".
Accordingly, the two sides share information about prevention and combat of terrorism, organized crime, high-tech crime, cyber security, illegal immigration and human trafficking.

Minister Luong Tam Quang stressed that combating human trafficking and illegal migration are main areas of cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and law enforcement agencies of the United Kingdom, and that the two sides will enhance information exchange and coordination in controlling illegal immigration.

For her part, Ms. Amanda Milling affirmed that in her working position, she will strongly support cooperation between the UK's law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, considering that this is an important factor to build trust and promote cooperation between the two countries in the fields of ensuring social order and safety of each country, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the two countries.
