At the meeting, the host welcomed Minister To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation, and expressed his delights at the good development of the relationship between the two parties and the two countries over the past years in many fields, such as: telecommunications, security - defense, agriculture, oil and gas, expert exchange, education - educate. The Mozambique Minister also wished to further promote the bilateral relationship, especially on the occasion of its 45th establishment anniversary (June 25, 1975 - June 25, 2020).
Minister To Lam thanked Mr. Joaquim Veríssimo for the warm welcome and emphasized that the Vietnamese Government and people highly appreciated the assistance of the Mozambique side.
The two ministers appreciated the effectiveness of cooperation between the two sides ‘judicial authorities, especially the signing of many important cooperation documents including the Agreement on Crime Prevention and Combat Cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Interior of Mozambique in 2011, the MoU on Protection and Conservation of wild animals and plants between the two Governments in 2017 and the Agreement on Criminal Justice Assistance in 2018.
Regarding further cooperation, the two sides pledged to prevent any entity from using the territory of one country against the other, facilitate and ensure the lawful rights and interests of citizens and enterprises of one country living, studying and traveling in the other. The two sides also vowed to strengthen consultancy and exchange of information, support and help each other in multilateral forums, accelerate the signing and implementation of international treaties to which the two sides are parties.
On this occasion, under the authority of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Minister To Lam and Minister Joaquim Veríssimo signed the Agreements Extradition and Transfer of Imprisoned Persons, which were expected to serve as a legal framework for the two sides in strengthening justice and criminal cooperation.
The two ministers pledged to complete the procedures for the approval of the abovementioned two agreements in the nearest time.
