During the Conference, delegates from the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and representatives of other countries including Germany, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia and Myanmar discussed and exchanged practical experience and training programs of each country in promoting career development and role of women in the police force. The conference is also an opportunity for female lecturers and officers of the Vietnamese People's Police Academy to exchange experiences with policewomen of ASEAN countries, thereby enhancing their knowledge, skills and capacity in education and training.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Major General Truong Van Thong, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam affirmed that the 2nd Regional Conference on the Role of Women in the Police force helped delegates gain new and useful knowledge of their working roles as well as different characteristics of the police forces in different Southeast Asian countries.
The event also provided a good opportunity for Vietnamese Public Security officers to understand more about the culture and the role of policewomen in other Southeast Asian countries, as well as to convey a message of the significant role of the Vietnamese women in all fields to the participating countries.
Major General Truong Van Thong suggested the Hanns Seidel Foundation propose to hold next conferences with diverse and comprehensive topics, contributing practically to different areas of society.
