VN, Laos enhance security cooperation

MPS - Lao Prime Minister (PM) Thongloun Sisoulith, on July 16, received Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam, who is leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam to attend the 10th Conference on security cooperation between Laos and Vietnam.

At the reception, PM Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the cooperation between the Lao MPS and the Vietnamese MPS over the past time, acknowledging that the effective cooperation between the two ministries has contributed to ensuring security of each country as well as tightening the friendship between the two countries.

In the context of regional and global changes, PM Thongloun Sisoulith suggested the Lao MPS and the Vietnamese MPS strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially network security, anti-terrorism, drug trafficking prevention, and human resource training.

The Conference focused on exchanging information, sharing experiences related national security. The two sides affirmed that the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, which was signed at the 9th Vietnam - Laos Security Cooperation Conference, has contributing to ensuring the political security, social order and safety of each country.

The two sides also agreed to work together in fighting terrorism and sabotage as well as to coordinate in the field of immigration to maintain stability and development of the border areas between two countries.
