At the event, the trainees were briefed by speakers from the Steering Committee for Prevention of Tobacco Harms under the Ministry of Public Security on some provisions of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms and the Government’s Decree No. 176 on the handling of administrative violations of non-smoking rules at medical establishments, the MPS’s plan to implement the National Strategy on Anti-smoking toward 2020, criteria for a smoking-free environment in public security offices, barracks and schools. The trainees also watched films on the harmful effects of tobacco on human health, economy and environment in Vietnam.
The training course aimed at raising public security officers’ awareness of protecting their health against the harmful effects of tobacco. On the basis of their knowledge, each would set a good example and persuaded their family members, friends, colleagues to avoid smoking.
The training course also guided the local public security units to build a smoke-free environment in the public security agencies and units based on the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms and the Government's Decree No. 176.
