In the letter, he praised the public security units and other forces for their recent victory in the anti-drug combat, cracking down on a major transnational drug ring run by both foreigners and Vietnamese, and seizing about 300kg of crystalline drugs and many related items.

The Minister of Public Security was reported that on the afternoon of March 20, 2019, the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes took the leading role and coordinated with professional units under the MPS and the Provincial/Municipal Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City, Dak Nong, Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, the Department of Prevention and Fight against Drugs and Crimes under the Border Guard Command, the Department of Anti-Smuggling Investigation under the General Department of Customs to crack down on a large-scale transnational drug ring headed by both Vietnamese and foreign nationals. The criminal ring transported drugs from Laos via the Bo Y Border Gate of Kon Tum to Ho Chi Minh City for consumption. Relevant forces searched and seized 300 kg of crystalline drugs and various exhibits, arrested 11 people involved.
This is an exceptionally excellent feat, demonstrating the police force’s ingenuity and determination to attack, suppress crime, particularly transnational drug rings, contributing to preventing and gradually controlling supplies of drugs, saving many families from the dangers of drugs, ensuring the peaceful life and happiness for the people. Stopping 1 kg of drugs from going to Vietnam means reducing many related criminal cases, and helping many families avoid witnessing their children imprisoned, which contributes to reducing the number of criminal cases, preventing Vietnam from becoming a regional entrepôt of drugs, and contributing to building a drug-free ASEAN. This victory also demonstrates the close international cooperation between the Vietnamese police force and the police of neighboring countries and the effective coordination between the MPS and other Vietnamese ministries and branches as well as good collaboration between the professional police agencies of the Ministry and the local police units.
On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the MPS, Minister To Lam congratulated and praised the relevant units for their merits. The Minister also asked the Investigation Police Department on Drug-related Crimes to coordinate with relevant forces to continue the investigation and thoroughly eradicate this drug ring. The Department of Party and Political Work, Department of Information and Communications, the MPS Portal are also assigned to promote information and law dissemination in support of of the fight against drug-related crimes.
The Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the MPS hope that the relevant units uphold the victorious spirit and continue to attack crimes, ensure security and order, and achieve more achievements, contributing to reducing crime rates and gradually building a safe and healthy society, for national security and for a peaceful life and happiness of the people.
