The meeting saw the presence of members of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) among other representatives from various agencies and units under the MPS and Hanoi Municipal Police Department.
According to a report delivered by Major General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS’s Ministerial Office, in November 2019, the MPS’s leaders directed all subordinate agencies and units to implement the working plans and take measures to ensure security and absolute safety for important key projects and activities and events with the participation of the Party’s and the State’s leaders as well as international events in Vietnam. Particularly, the forces have ensured security for the ongoing 8th Plenary Session of the 14th National Assembly and the 25th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting.
The MPS’s leaders also directed police units at all levels to launch intensive campaigns to crack down on crimes, ensure security and order during the 2020 Lunar New Year (Tet), implement plans and strongly attack organized crimes, including "black credit" crime, illegal debt collection, robbery, theft and gambling.
In November, the police force successfully investigated 3,489 criminal cases and arrested 5,813 people involved, cracked down on 193 criminal gangs, and arrested 597 wanted criminals. The force also speeded up the investigation of major economic and corruption crimes under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-corruption while resolutely fight against smuggling, trade fraud, production and trading of counterfeit goods. As a result, 586 economic cases and 23 corruption cases were discovered while 1,417 drug-related cases with 2,212 people involved were detected and more than 130 kg of heroin, more than 87,000 pills of synthetic drugs were seized.
With the outstanding achievements in the month, as many as 11,595 units and individuals across the Public Security Forces were presented honors and awards by authorities at all levels.
Meanwhile, the public security press and media agencies well performed their assigned tasks, published nearly 300 articles and reports featuring victories, achievements and good examples of the Public Security Forces.
To conclude the meeting, Minister To Lam requested police units at all levels to launch more intensive campaigns against crimes in the time to come, contributing to ensure security for 2020 Christmas, New Year and Tet holidays while making efforts to successfully complete the assigned tasks, taking preventive measures against fire and explosion, and maintaining traffic order and safety.
Public security agencies and units at all levels should focus on Party and force building, promote political education and tighten discipline among public security officers and soldiers. The relevant police agencies and units were also urged to continue deploying professional police officers to communes in line with the MPS’s guidelines and regulations, promptly praising and encouraging units and individuals with outstanding achievements in the course of national security protection and fight against crimes.
Meanwhile, the public security press and media agencies should enhance dissemination of information and raise public awareness of security protection, quickly report on achievements and good examples in the fight against crimes, and further spread the movement “All people protect the national security” across the society.
