Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Public Security chaired the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by leaders of relevant ministries and branches; members of the Drafting Board and Editorial Team as well as leaders of units under the MPS.
The Politburo agreed on the project “To continue renovating and streamlining the public security apparatus for more efficiency and effectiveness” developed by the Central Public Security Party Committee. Under the authorization of the Government and the National Assembly, the MPS has coordinated with relevant ministries and agencies to draft the amended People’s Public Security Law to replace the 2014 Law and the 2008 Commune Police Ordinance, which is expected to be submitted to the 14th National Assembly for consideration and comment at its 5th session and for approval at the 6th session.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam recognized and appreciated ideas of the members of the Drafting Board and Editorial Team, and asked them to carefully select and add good ideas to the amended People’s Public Security Law before submitting it to the Government and the National Assembly.
Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam emphasized the importance to complete the Law on the People’s Public Security Forces to ensure consistency with other legal documents on the organization and operation of the whole Public Security Forces while embracing the viewpoints on administrative and judiciary reforms of the Party and the State with a view to consolidating the public security apparatus for more efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring provisions of the Law compatible with the reality, and meeting the requirements of ensuring security and order in the current period.
The deputy minister also urged the Drafting Board and Editorial Team and relevant parties to promote the sense of responsibility and spare no effort to fulfill the set goals and tasks.
