The signing ceremony is part of the activities responding to the program “Safety for women and girls” launched by the Women’s Union of Vietnam in 2019. The program aims to promote the role and responsibility as well as the coordination of the Women’s Union with the MPS, the Supreme People’s Court and the Supreme People’s Procuracy in preventing and fighting violations of legal rights and legitimate interests of women and girls.
The cooperation program also ensures that any cases related to women and girls be detected, investigated prosecuted and tried in a timely and serious manner in accordance with the laws, contributing to protecting the rights and legitimate interests of women and girls.
In the 2019-22 period, the program requires the participating forces to promote their coordination in handling reports and denunciations about crimes and law violations related to women and girls; in preventing and fighting violations of legal rights and legitimate interests of women and girls; in informing the press and media of serious cases involving women and girls and causing public anger and anxiety; and in training and building capacity for cadres of the Women's Union chapters of the Court, Procuracy and Public Security Forces.
For its part, the MPS will direct all sub-units to develop plans and effectively implement this coordination program while proactively preventing, detecting, investigating and handling cases involving women and girls in accordance with the laws. The MPS will also continue to step up the implementation of their programs and campaigns to prevent and fight crimes against women and girls, such as domestic violence and human trafficking.
