NA Deputy Chairman Uong Chu Luu chaired the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quy Vuong, Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security, stressed the necessity to amend and supplement the law.
The Law on Handling of Administrative Violations involves numerous issues related to judgment execution, penalties and sanctioning authority. In addition, its relevant decrees and guiding documents should be also revised.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Ministry of Public Security will review and assure the compatibility between the amended law and the Criminal Code.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that an amended law will resolve various issues related to drug addicts and illegal drug-takers.
He also noted that the violation-handling procedures should be simplified while penalties for violations should be increased.
"The Ministry of Public Security have already dissolved the general department level, so the authority responsible for steering and managing the handling of administrative violations must be changed in the amended law,” underlined Deputy Minister Le Quy Vuong.
