Police prosecute suspects of illegally taking Vietnamese to foreign country

MPS - Since the beginning of 2022, the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department has investigated four cases involving eight persons who had organized illegal entry of Vietnamese citizens to Cambodia.

Among them, the local police proposed the provincial procuracy to prosecute two case with two suspects on charges of organizing illegal immigration or/and illegal residency of other people in a foreign country.

Particularly on February 10, 2022, the Security Investigation Agency under the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police Department prosecuted Nguyen Van Linh (aged 35, residing in Nghi Son town, Thanh Hoa) for organizing illegal immigration or/and illegal residency of other people in a foreign country. He was accused of supporting six local people in illegally crossing the border to Cambodia to work.

Recently on June 16, 2022, the agency continued to prosecute Tran Ngoc Chung (aged 19, residing in Sam Son city) for the same change. When working at a casino in Cambodia and he used his Facebook account to lure his acquaintances to illegally cross the border to Cambodia to work.

Four local people were convinced by Linh and illegally entered Cambodia on March 1, 2022, following Tran Ngoc Chung’s instructions. Chung got some US$ 2,600 for the organization of the illegal immigration of four people in Cambodia and left them to be ill-treated and abused while working at a casino in Cambodia.     

Under the Vietnamese laws, those who cross the border to a foreign country without exit documents will be fined VND 3 million - 5 million and if they recommit the offence, they will be prosecuted and may be sentenced to jail for 03 years. For those who organize illegal entry to a foreign country may get an imprisonment of up to 15 years.
