The Forensic Science Institute reviewed task performance in the first half of 2020

MPS - The Forensic Science Institute under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), on July 1st held a conference to review its task performance in the first 6 months of 2020.

Overview of the conference.

According to reports at the conference, the Forensic Science Institute has focused on advising the MPS to establish three new professional teams of the Institute while promoting the establishment of forensic teams at the district-level. 

Thanks to the MPS’s policy on enhancing the capacity of grassroots-level police forces, the forensic teams of district police are now able to do the crime scene examination, helping reduce the workload of the Forensic Science Institute and provincial forensic sections.

The number of requests for criminal prevention techniques increased by 418% compared to the same period last year.

The international cooperation in the field of forensic science has been promoted over the past time. Particularly, the Institute has cooperated with relevant agencies in organizing the 4th ASEAN Forensic Police Network Meeting in Hanoi.

Speaking at the conference, Senior Colonel Tran Viet Kieu, Head of the Forensic Science Institute stated that the forensic police force would closely follow the guidelines and directions of the MPS on the organization of its upcoming 16th Party Congress for the term 2020 – 2025 while accelerating the implementation of the Law amending and supplementing the Law on Judicial Assessment.
