Quang Nam asked to enhance security work for the 36th ASEAN Summit

MPS - Senior Lieutenant General Bui Van Nam, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the ASEAN 2020 Security Sub-Committee, on February 24, led a delegation to work with the Quang Nam provincial Police Department on measures to ensure the security of the 36th ASEAN Summit.

Deputy Minister Bui Van Nam emphasized that 2020 is a very important year as Vietnam is the Chairman of ASEAN, the Chairman of ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41), and a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council. As a result, the country will host a number of major international events, particularly the 36th ASEAN Summit. 

Quang Nam and the provinces and cities selected to host major international events have great opportunities to promote tourism and attract foreign investment, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

The deputy minister asked the Quang Nam Provincial Police Department to focus on drawing up comprehensive plans to ensure absolute safety and security for the 36th ASEAN Summit and related activities in the province as well as for participating delegates and their families.

He also requested the Quang Nam Police to take comprehensive professional measures, grasp the situation, enhance security work and prepare plans to immediately address any emerging issues during the 36th ASEAN Summit.
