Phu Tan district police wholeheartedly support needy locals

MPS - The gratitude fund established and run by the police of Phu Tan district, An Giang province has helped a number of local policy beneficiaries over the past years.

On the occasion of the 71st founding anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces (August 19, 2016), the police of Phu Tan district established a fund for gratitude and social activities targeting revolution contributors, needy retired police officers and poor students with excellent school records.

Since its establishment, the fund has received over VND 1 billion in total from various benefactors in An Giang and other provinces. The Phu Tan police annually organize meetings to honor the contributions of benefactors as well as to publicize the detailed donations and spending of the fund.

On the occasion of the new school year, the police of Phu Tan district offer local poor students with gifts, such as bicycles, notebooks, school bags, and health insurance cards, worth VND 100 million per year on average. In 2019, they offered gifts worth VND 200 million in total to needy local pupils.

In September 2019, leaders of the Phu Tan district police called on the Charity and Social Work Team of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy to give free health checkups and medicines to local people. They also presented 400 packages of gifts to the poor in three communes of the district.

In 2018 and 2020, the local police called on donors to support 47 computers, worth VND 400 million in total, to the Hoa Lac High School and Secondary School. In the first months of 2020, amid the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district police raised nearly VND 120 million of fund to support old-aged, disabled, and poor people in the locality.

With the gratitude fund, the Phu Tan district police have effectively supported local people, and their activities have contributed to strengthening the relationship between the police and the people, and encouraging the people to participate in the “All people protect the national security” movement.
