
Department of Homeland Security awarded “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title
The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) solemnly held a ceremony, on the afternoon of April 11 in Hanoi, to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the Homeland Security Force (April 18, 1946 – 2026), which received the title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” on the occasion.

Member of the Politburo and Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu attended and delivered a keynote speech at the ceremony.
Member of the Politburo and Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc and other high-ranking officials were also attended the event.
Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang chaired the ceremony.


Under the authority of the State President, Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu presents “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces” title to Department of Homeland Security.
Recalling the force’s 80-year development journey, Director of the Department of Homeland Security Major General Nguyen Huu Manh emphasized that under the absolute and comprehensive leadership of the Party, the unified management of the State, the close direction of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry’s leadership, as well as the support of the people, the Homeland Security Force has grown steadily, becoming a “steel shield,” protecting the Party, safeguarding the regime and ensuring a peaceful life for the people.
In recognition of the force’s outstanding contributions, the Department of Homeland Security was rewarded by the State President the noble title of “Hero of the People’s Armed Forces”.
Addressing the ceremony, on behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, Permanent Member of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu acknowledged and highly appreciated the achievements of the Homeland Security Force, and commended generations of homeland security officers on this distinguished honor.
He emphasized that, amid increasingly complex and unpredictable developments in the regional and the globe, the force should continue to uphold its heroic tradition, continuously build on its professional capacity, promote force building and maintain close coordination with relevant forces to meet the growing requirement for safeguarding national security.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the MPS leadership, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung affirmed that the Public Security Forces in general and the Homeland Security Force in particular will thoroughly grasp and translate the directives of the Party leadership into specific action programs.
He stressed that the force will continue to uphold the spirit of “Most disciplined – Most loyal to the Party– Closest to the people,” strengthen coordination with ministries, sectors, localities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations, and strive to successfully fulfill all assigned tasks, worthy of the trust of the Party, the State and the people.
