
Department of Information and Communications requested to become leading communication agency
Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung hosted a working session with the Department of Information and Communications under the Ministry of Public Security, on the morning of March 12 in Hanoi.

Reporting on the department’s work results since the beginning of 2026, Director of the Department of Information and Communications Major General Do Trieu Phong highlighted that the unit has effectively performed its function of advising the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security on orientations for communications and journalism, as well as proactively directed and manage all press, publishing and film activities in the Public Security Forces, and promoted communication cooperation with partners outside the forces.
Thanks to the department’s clear instructions, the public security press promptly disseminated information about the order and security situation in localities and the country, the forces’ work results in ensuring security and order, particularly the ministry-lauched campaign to suppress crime and ensure security and order for the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lunar New Year 2026.
Public Security Television, the Public Security Newspaper and Public Security Radio also produced many outstanding programs, publications and broadcasts during the Lunar New Year period, honoring Vietnam’s traditional cultural values and promoting the positive image of the Public Security Forces in safeguarding security and order.

At the working session, leaders of the department and representatives of its divisions also highlighted several challenges and shortcomings, and proposed approaches to address issues related to the functions, missions, organizational structure, professional work, as well as financial, logistical and technical work.
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung commended the Department of Information and Communications for its achievements and efforts in recent times.
He affirmed that the public security communications sector has made significant contributions to safeguarding national security, maintaining social order and safety, building the Party and strengthening the Public Security Forces, as well as to the overall achievements of Vietnam’s revolutionary press.
Highlighting key tasks for the sector in the coming period, the Deputy Minister requested the department to urgently complete the legal framework governing communications activities within the Public Security Forces in order to further promote the role of press agencies under the management of the department.
He also called for innovation in communication, information and journalism approaches, pressing the need to place the audience at the center of communication, information and journalism development strategies.
At the same time, the department should promptly develop a network of contributors within the forces, with particular attention to building a strong contributor network comprising officers working at communes, wards and special administrative regions.
Additionally, the public security information and communications sector was encouraged to fully leverage the distinctive advantages of the Public Security Forces by effectively utilizing available resources such as professional archives and declassified files of major cases to translate interesting stories and reportage on their publications and programs.
