Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long chairs briefing conference on combating cybercrimes

A report presented at the conference clearly stated that, over the past period, under-ministerial police agencies and local police departments have strictly implemented directions from the Party, State and Ministry of Public Security regarding combating crimes exploiting cyberspace, achieving initial major results. Greater priority has been given to crime prevention, while information dissemination and public warning campaigns have been broadly and purposefully conducted.

Coordination between under-ministerial specialized operational departments and local police forces as well as between provincial-level professional specialized branches and commune-level police has become closer, more cohesive and substantively effective. Police forces in many localities have demonstrated professional competence and political resolve, strictly applying the laws to handle offenders who make use of cyberspace for criminal activities.

At the conference, delegates discussed the current situation and results of detecting, combating, and handling crimes and legal violations in cyberspace, while proposing solutions to strengthen the fight against these target groups in the coming period.

Speaking at the conference on behalf of the Executive Committee of the Public Security CPV Organisation and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long recognized and hailed the achievements recorded by public security units and local police departments.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that Resolution No. 18 issued on July 28, 2026 by the CPV Central Committee on building an orderly, disciplined, safe, civilized, harmonious and developed society represents an urgent mandate set by the Party and State. The People’s Public Security Forces play the core role in advising, implementing, and overseeing its execution. Therefore, fighting cybercrime is a foundational step toward putting Resolution No. 18 into practice, creating a truly disciplined, safe and civilized environment in cyberspace.

To carry out this task, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long requested under-ministerial units and provincial-level police departments to resolutely combat crimes and law violations in cyberspace, combining crime prevention with public communication. They should coordinate with relevant ministries and sectors to study, amend, and supplement legal documents, as well as strictly manage online platforms and accounts of individuals and organizations to ensure a legal framework robust enough to handle and prevent violations.

The Deputy Minister emphasized the need to strongly innovate thinking and action regarding the fight against cybercrime and law violations, regarding it as the collective responsibility of the entire People’s Public Security Forces. Under-ministerial units and provincial-level police departments should continue to enhance communication on criminal cases, incidents and illegal acts in cyberspace so that the public stays informed, understands, and supports these efforts, thereby contributing to a safe and civilized cyber environment.
