
Hue police return lost property to foreign tourist
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly (born in 1971, residing in Thanh Thuy Ward, Hue City) found a handbag containing a Kindle e-reader and a passport named Neil Samuel Evans (born in 1953, British nationality), at around 11:00 a.m. on January 24, 2026, in the pedestrian street area of Hue City.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly promptly brought the items to the Vy Da Ward Police Station to report on the case, hand over the property to the local police, and requested them to verify the rightful owner of the lost belongings.
After receiving the report, the Vy Da Ward Police Station urgently coordinated with the Immigration Management Division under the Hue Municipal Police Department to search for the person with the name on the personal document.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of relevant agencies, the local police quickly found Mr. Neil Samuel Evans as the owner of the items, and invited him to the police station to get back his lost belongings.
At the police station, Mr. Neil Samuel Evans expressed his delight and extended his sincere thanks to Ms. Nguyen Thi Ly for her honesty.
He also highly appreciated the strong sense of responsibility, professionalism and timely support of the Vy Da Ward Police Station and the Immigration Management Division of the Hue City Police Department, helping him promptly recover his lost belongings.
