
Major drug trafficking ring from Cambodia to Vietnam dismantled
The Counter-Narcotics Police Division under the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department successfully dismantled a large-scale criminal ring involved in transporting synthetic drugs from Cambodia into Vietnam for distribution in several localities, including Tay Ninh Province, Ho Chi Minh City, Tra Vinh Province and Dak Lak Province, on March 11, 2026.

Accordingly, on March 2, 2026, a task force from the Ho Chi Minh City Counter-Narcotics Police Division, in coordination with the Thai My Communal Police Station, inspected a suspicious vehicle traveling in the area.
During the inspection, officers discovered Vo Minh Thinh (born in 1999, residing in An Lac Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) transporting more than seven kilograms of various types of synthetic drugs hidden inside the car.




Suspects arrested in the case.
Expanding the investigation of the case, police subsequently arrested several prime suspects, including Tu Thanh Thien Tan (born in 2002, residing in Phu Tho Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), Lam Quoc Hung (born in 2007, residing in Can Tho City) and Nguyen Phuoc Thinh (born in 2007, also residing in Can Tho City), along with 26 other suspects involved in the network.
Initial investigation results showed that the suspects received drugs from areas along the Cambodia–Tay Ninh border, then transported them to communes in Tay Ninh bordering Ho Chi Minh City, where the narcotics were stored and then distributed to various dealers.

Among those arrested, Vo Minh Thinh played a central role, directly receiving and distributing the narcotics, while Tu Thanh Thien Tan, Lam Quoc Hung and Nguyen Phuoc Thinh were responsible for storing, packaging and transporting the drugs to dealers.
So far, the Counter-Narcotics Police Division has arrested and summoned 30 suspects accused of drug trafficking, organizing illegal drug use and illegal drug consumption.
Authorities have seized over 17 kilograms of various drugs, nearly 1,000 ecstasy pills and 60 packets of recreational drug liquids.
The case is currently under further investigation.
