
Minister Luong Tam Quang holds phone tasks with Chinese counterpart
Member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang held phone talks with Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong on the afternoon of August 19, in Hanoi.

Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that, since the State visit to China by General Secretary To Lam in August 2024 and the visit to Vietnam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in April 2025, relations between the two Parties and the two countries have been strongly promoted across multiple fields, including politics, economy, security, defense, cultural exchanges and people-to-people diplomacy.
These positive results have significantly contributed to expanding and deepening the intension of the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the Vietnam–China Community with a Shared Future, he said.
Agreeing with Minister Wang Xiaohong’s assessment of recent cooperation outcomes between the two ministries, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that a large number of practical activities have been effectively implemented.
Notably, cooperation between the two sides in combating transnational crimes has yielded tangible results and become a “bright spot” in bilateral relations. Particularly the two sides coordinated effectively in fighting drug-related offenses, rescuing victims, apprehending fugitives and controlling illegal immigration.

In addition, the Vietnamese Minister highlighted that existing mechanisms, such as the Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention and Control and the Deputy-Ministerial Strategic Security Dialogue, have continued to serve as important platforms for both sides to discuss strategic issues, exchange views and seek solutions to safeguard political security, combat transnational crimes and strengthen strategic trust.
Regarding the Mekong–Lancang Law Enforcement Cooperation Mechanism initiated by the Chinese Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that, although currently participating in the mechanism as an observer, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam will continue to support and actively engage in programs and action plans to prevent and combat transnational crimes within its framework on the basis of respect for the sovereignty and the laws of each country.
Discussing orientations for the bilateral cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang stressed that the two sides should continue close coordination to ensure the absolute security and safety of high-level visits and major political events in each country, protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens of each country, and ensure the safety of diplomatic missions and enterprises of one country in the other.
On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang invited Minister Wang Xiaohong to pay an official visit to Vietnam and co-chair the upcoming 9th Ministerial Meeting on Crime Prevention and Control.
