Minister Luong Tam Quang meets with Amazon leadership

As a member of a high-ranking delegation accompanying Party General Secretary To Lam to the United States to attend the opening meeting of the Gaza Peace Council, Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang had a meeting with Amazon Vice President of Public Policy for the Americas Shannon Kellogg, on February 19 in Washington, D.C.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang congratulated Amazon on its strong and sustainable global growth and highly appreciated the quality of Amazon’s services in the Vietnamese market, contributing to promoting the national innovation, startup and digital transformation ecosystem in the country.

The Minister noted that Amazon’s cloud computing services play an important role in effectively supporting the operations of Vietnamese enterprises, saying that Amazon’s success in Vietnam has clearly demonstrated the country’s increasingly open, transparent and favorable business and investment environment, as well as its long-term economic development potential.

According to Minister Luong Tam Quang, the Government and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam are currently striving to build and perfect the legal framework related to data governance, cybersecurity and privacy protection in order to ensure national data sovereignty and the security of critical information systems, while also creating favorable conditions for enterprises to operate in a stable and long-term manner.

Minister Luong Tam Quang stated that the Ministry of Public Security always supports foreign investors and businesses, including Amazon, to operate safely, productively and stably in Vietnam in compliance with the Vietnamese laws and international treaties to which the country is party. 

He added that the Ministry will continue to listen to businesses’ opinions and suggestions in order to promptly resolve difficulties and foster a transparent and sustainable cooperation environment.

The Minister encouraged Amazon to continue expanding its investment in Vietnam, as well as organize training programs and enhance technology transfer to help improve the quality of Vietnamese human resources in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, big data analytics and digital infrastructure management.

He also reiterated his support for the healthy, balanced and sustainable development of Vietnam–U.S. economic and trade cooperation to bring about practical benefits to the peoples of both countries.

For his part, Amazon Vice President Shannon Kellogg thanked the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for supporting the company’s investment and business activities in the country, and wished to accompany Vietnam in implementing its strategic development orientations, including the development goals for 2030 and 2045.

He also said he was impressed with the enormous effort of the Vietnamese Government and the Ministry of Public Security to build a transparent and stable legal environment in line with global development trends.

The Vice President affirmed that Amazon considers Vietnam one of its key markets in the Asia-Pacific region and is committed to continuing long-term investment and expanding its service provision in Vietnam. He said that the giant company hopes that it will receive further support, guidance and advice from the Ministry of Public Security and other Vietnamese state management agencies in the future.
