Minister Luong Tam Quang reviews progress of Gia Binh International Airport project

The Minister-led delegation included Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Ngoc Lam and leaders of relevant under-ministerial public security departments.

The working session was also attended by Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Thai.

Covering a total area of 1,960 hectares, the Gia Binh International Airport project is a key national project of the international level, playing a particularly important role in the national master plan for airports and airfields. The airport is positioned as a strategic dual-use facility for the capital region, contributing to expanding the capital region’s development space and turning Bac Ninh and neighboring provinces into a new growth pole.

With of its strongest commitment, Bac Ninh province has set the goal of completing all site-clearance work for Phase 1 of the project and handing over the cleared land to the investor for the construction of the runway and APEC-related facilities, as scheduled.

At the working session, delegates comprehensively evaluated the initial results of the project implementation and proposed solutions to overcome difficulties, remove obstacles and solve issues, so as to complete the compensation and site-clearance work by December 31, 2026.

Speaking at the session, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Minister Luong Tam Quang applauded the strong political determination and commitment of Bac Ninh province, the Bac Ninh Provincial Police Department, functional units of the Ministry of Public Security as well as the investor in realizing the Gia Binh International Airport project. 

He also thanked the Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee and the Chairman of the Bac Ninh Provincial People’s Committee for their close and decisive leadership over the past period.

The Minister proposed that the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee continue to direct local agencies to promptly resolve issues according to their responsibility, and break all bottlenecks to ensure the project timeline.

In addition to the airport construction, Minister Luong Tam Quang urged Bac Ninh to pay close attention to the development of traffic infrastructure, including roads connecting between the airport and other highways as well as routes linking Gia Binh Airport with Hanoi, with a view to creating an integrated airport–city ecosystem that helps elevate Vietnam’s supply-chain capacity and regional competitiveness.
