Ministry of Public Security seeks to expand cooperation with Japanese partners

A high-level delegation of the Ministry of Public Security, led by Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Dang Hong Duc paid a working visit to Japan from June 28 to July 1, 2026.

On June 30, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc met with Deputy Commissioner of Japan's National Police Agency Tachikawa Koichi to review bilateral cooperation and discuss responses to non-traditional security threats, including cybercrime, fraud, money laundering and terrorist financing. 

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening security and law enforcement cooperation within the framework of the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During his stay, Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc also paid a courtesy call on Japan's Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Kenichiro Ueno, and held working sessions with Juntendo University Hospital, Showa University Hospital and the National Cancer Center.

He proposed stronger cooperation in training high-quality medical personnel and expanding partnerships between leading Japanese medical institutions and hospitals under the management of Vietnam's Ministry of Public Security.

The two sides also agreed to promote long-term cooperation in scientific research, advanced technology transfer, telemedicine, disaster medicine, pre-hospital emergency care and other areas in which Japan has strong expertise.

Deputy Minister Dang Hong Duc also held talks with senior leaders of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Japan Firefighters Association and TOPPAN Digital. 

At the meetings, the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in fire prevention and fighting, rescue and relief and the development of Vietnam's security industry, particularly in electronics, semiconductors, optics, advanced materials, biotechnology, testing and research capacity.

The Deputy Minister also paid a courtesy call on Chairperson of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance Obuchi Yuko and visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. 

The meetings reaffirmed both countries' commitment to further strengthening the Vietnam–Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and supporting the Vietnamese community in Japan.
