Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Pham The Tung chaired the meeting.
As 2026 marks the first year of implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress and the Politburo’s Resolution No. 59 on international integration in the new context, Vietnam is actively making preparations for the hosting of APEC 2027 — one of the country’s most significant high-level multilateral external events from now to 2030.
To proactively ensure security and prepare medical services for the event, the MPS has, from an early stage, been directing all relevant public security units and agencies to seriously implement tasks according to their functions, while issuing a number of directives and closely coordinating with subcommittees and the National Secretariat to carry out related work.
At the meeting, delegates discussed initial results, pointed out difficulties and challenges, assessed the current situation, and proposed key orientations and solutions to ensure absolute security and safety for APEC 2027.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung emphasized that APEC 2027 is a major political, diplomatic and economic event, reflecting Vietnam’s growing position and the trust of APEC member economies in the country.
He stressed that the highest aim set by the Ministry is to ensure absolute security and safety, preventing any unexpected incidents or avoiding lapses even the smallest one at event venues and across the country while creating the most favorable conditions for leaders of APEC economies, other delegates and international guests during APEC 2027, thereby contributing to socio-economic development and promoting the country’s image.
To achieve this goal, the Deputy Minister requested public security units and agencies nationwide to proactively grasp the situation and promptly prevent, detect and neutralize any plots or activities by hostile forces who would make full use of APEC 2027 to undermine security and order.
He also underscored the need to deploy forces, equipment and measures appropriately in accordance with the scale and nature of each event so as to create a truly safe and secure environment with zero tolerance for any mistakes, even the minor one.
