MPS, Ericsson seek opportunity for information security cooperation

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang underlined that Ms. Rita Mokbel’s visit to Vietnam to attend the Signing Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime (the Hanoi Convention) marked an another important milestone besides the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security’s high-level delegation visit to Sweden in September 2025.

Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that, with a strategic vision toward building a safe, digital and sustainably developing Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) attaches great importance to promoting cooperation with reputable international partners, particularly in the field of high technology.

The Minister recognized Ericsson as one of the world’s leading enterprises in telecommunications and artificial intelligence (AI), with groundbreaking innovations that have contributed to effectively addressing non-traditional security challenges such as cybercrime, high-tech terrorism and threats to data security.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in information and cybersecurity, jointly research and develop AI-based security solutions to protect 5G and 6G network infrastructure from cyber threats, high-tech crimes and terrorism, while collaborating to build a secure digital data ecosystem and establish a sovereign AI data center in Vietnam.

On this occasion, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that Ericsson share its experience and technology in building and operating next-generation mobile communication networks with the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, noting that technology transfer, particularly, for 5G and 6G equipment production, represents a strategic step toward realizing Vietnam’s goal of technological self-reliance.

The Minister also encouraged Ericsson to organize training programs for high-quality technical personnel and implement joint research initiatives on information security, spectrum management and AI applications in network management, thereby enhancing Vietnam’s digital resilience and cybersecurity capabilities.
