
MPS opens training course on foreign affairs and international cooperation
The Department of Foreign Relations under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a training workshop on foreign affairs and international cooperation for public security units and agencies in southern localities, on January 9, in Ho Chi Minh City.

The workshop was attended by Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Relations Nguyen Hoa Chi, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department Bui Thanh Truc, and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dang Dinh Quy.
Delivering the opening remarks, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hoa Chi noted that, in recent years, public security units and agencies have proactively carried out foreign affairs and international cooperation activities, making important contributions to safeguarding national security, ensuring social order and safety and building regular, elite and modern Public Security Forces.
During the one-day workshop, participants listened to lectures delivered by leaders and experienced experts in foreign affairs from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The training program helped in-charge officers improve their quality of strategic advisory work on foreign affairs, as well as learn hands-on experience and skills to handle issues in international relations and conduct specific foreign affairs and international cooperation activities, thereby contributing to the foreign affairs work of the entire Public Security Forces.
At the workshop, speakers briefed participants on a wide range of topics, including fundamental theoretical subjects related to foreign affairs and international integration; updated them on guidelines and viewpoints of the Party and the State, as well as laws and policies on foreign affairs and international integration; and reported on recent results of the country’s foreign affairs sector in general and the Public Security Forces’ one in particular.
Concluding the workshop, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hoa Chi emphasized that public security units and agencies should identify foreign affairs and international integration of the Public Security Forces as an important part of the country’s overall foreign affairs and international integration, and the work is closely linked with the mission of the Public Security Forces in the new era, as it contributes to enhancing the position of the Public Security Forces in promoting peace and security in the region and in the world.
He also stressed the need to step up the organization of international scientific conferences and seminars on security and order with selective, substantive and focused topics in accordance with practical needs of the Public Security Forces and the country as a whole. Discussions of such a meeting should focus on how to improve the forces’ ability to research and forecast situations, as well as to provide strategic advice and efficiently respond to non-traditional security challenges.
Finally, he underscored that the Public Security Forces with their functions and responsibilities should ensure security and safety for major political events of the country, absolutely safeguard Party and State leaders at home and abroad as well as visiting international delegations in Vietnam, as well as support and protect legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese communities overseas.
