Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen emphasized that cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam and German law enforcement agencies has developed positively in recent years, which has been reflected by regular delegation exchanges and practical coordination activities.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of cooperation areas to further strengthen ties between the Vietnam’s MPS and the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, including crime prevention and control, passport management, immigration and border management, fire prevention, firefighting and rescue, crisis management, and population management.
The two sides agreed to further enhance information exchange and coordination in verifying cases and extraditing suspects through diplomatic channels and Interpol, while continuing to cooperate to ensure the safety and security of citizens of each country studying, working and traveling lawfully in the other.
They also agreed to consider increasing delegation exchanges at all levels, as well as negotiating and signing key cooperation documents, such as an agreement on the exchange and protection of classified information and a memorandum of understanding on cybersecurity.
The German side affirmed that it was ready to support Vietnam to modernize passport control systems at international border gates with the application of biometric technology and e-passport authentication, as well as to share data on forged passports and illegal migration activities. Germany also committed to organizing training courses for Vietnam’s border forces on immigration control, anti-human trafficking and cross-border smuggling prevention.
In addition, the German Federal Ministry of the Interior agreed to provide technical assistance, modern rescue equipment and data analysis software for the Vietnamese side, and share its hands-on experience with its Vietnamese partners in crisis management, development of a national population database and personal data protection.
The two sides reached consensus to foster cooperation in exchanging information on drug-related crimes and illegal migration, enhancing capacity-building, language training and professional development for officers, as well as strengthen coordination to ensure the security of diplomatic missions, high-level delegations and citizens of both countries.
On the same day, Deputy Minister Le Van Tuyen and the delegation also visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Germany.
