MPS tightens cooperation with Cambodian Ministry of Interior

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia Sar Sokha on August 17, in Hanoi.

At the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that, throughout their history, the security and police forces of Vietnam and Cambodia have always maintained solidarity and close cooperation in ensuring security and order in both countries.

Reviewing the key outcomes of bilateral cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang noted that security cooperation has continued to serve as a pillar in Vietnam–Cambodia relations and has brought about many positive achievements.

The host highlighted that the two sides regularly exchanged information, closely coordinated to ensure the absolute safety of political events in each country and strengthened cooperation in arresting and handling cases of online fraud, murder, robbery and illegal detention related to citizens of the two countries. 

The two countries’ police forces also launched joint campaigns to combat drug-related crimes along the border, and organized training courses on drug investigation and forensic analysis for hundreds of Cambodian officers.

To further promote cooperation in security and law enforcement, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that the two sides establish mechanisms for coordination in investigating and addressing criminal cases, arresting wanted fugitives, and conducting joint campaigns to eliminate online fraud networks and transnational drug trafficking rings. 

He also stressed the need to ensure security, safety and create favorable conditions for citizens of each country living, studying, working and doing business legally in the other.

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his confidence that the traditional solidarity and friendship between the two countries, the two ministries would continue to strengthen their political trust and comprehensive cooperation in security and law enforcement, contributing to a peaceful, secure and stable environment for development in both countries.

For his part, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Cambodia Sar Sokha highly valued the achievements of cooperation between the two ministries in security and crime prevention and control.

The guest expressed his hope that the security and police forces of the two countries would further enhance cooperation in combating organized crime, transnational crime, drug-related crime, human trafficking and high-tech crime, contributing to building a region of peace, security, safety, stability and development.
