Overview of the meeting.

Recent high-level visits and contacts have continually reinforced political trust and generated fresh momentum to deepen bilateral relations, particularly in strategic domains, such as high technology, innovation and economic security.

Within the overall bilateral relationship, security and police cooperation constitutes a vital pillar. The two sides currently maintain regular mechanisms, including the Deputy Ministerial Security Dialogue, the Deputy Ministerial Police Cooperation Conference, information exchanges through the Viet Nam–RoK liaison channel, and delegation exchanges between under-ministerial agencies and local police units.

Through these mechanisms, ties between the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and relevant Korean agencies have been continuously strengthened.

The two sides have actively coordinated the transmission of important messages between senior leaders; exchanged views on global developments and regional security; and enhanced bilateral and multilateral cooperation in crime prevention and control, training, working-level exchanges, official development assistance (ODA), and citizen protection.

Regarding future cooperation orientations, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized the need to effectively implement existing mechanisms. As an immediate priority, the two sides should focus on meticulous preparation for the 8th Police Cooperation Conference and the 4th Cultural and Sports Exchange Program between the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam and the Korean National Police Agency in December 2026.

The Minister also proposed that the two sides continue to improve the quality of information exchange and maintain close coordination in combating high-tech crime, drug-related crime, and transnational organized crime.

Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Viet Nam will coordinate closely with the Korean Embassy to ensure the security and safety of its headquarters and personnel, and stands ready to create favorable conditions for Korean enterprises and citizens living, studying, and working legally in Viet Nam.

For her part, Ambassador Lee Mi Yon expressed sincere gratitude for the warm reception and good wishes extended by Minister Luong Tam Quang at the start of her ambassadorship in the country, expressing her honor to assume her post in Viet Nam while the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries continues to flourish.
