The event was attended by Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam and NCA Vice Chairman Pham Tien Dung; Deputy Director of the Department of Cybersecurity and High-tech Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan - Head of the NCA Data Security and Personal Data Protection Committee; President for Asia-Pacific and Japan of Check Point Software Technologies Ruma Balasubramanian; along with representatives from state management agencies, cybersecurity experts, research organizations and the business community.
In the context of rapidly advancing artificial intelligence (AI), which is becoming a core driver of the digital economy, cybersecurity is facing unprecedented challenges. While AI promotes innovation and operational efficiency, it also introduces new vulnerabilities as data systems become increasingly interconnected and complex.
In Vietnam, the legal framework on cybersecurity and AI has further been refined with the Law on Cybersecurity as well as the national AI strategy for 2030 and new regulatory orientations, emphasizing requirements for safety. In that context, transparency and accountability of new technologies throughout their entire lifespan is seriously considered, particularly when AI becomes an integral component of national digital infrastructure.
In his opening remarks, Senior Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan noted that from the perspective of safeguarding national security, AI presents multiple strategic challenges, including issues related to data sovereignty, dependence on foreign platforms and technologies and the need to protect the very AI systems, which are increasingly becoming targets of cyberattacks.
He stressed that AI is no longer a tool but a factor reshaping cyberspace and the concept of national security, adding that proactively mastering and ensuring the security of AI technologies will be decisive for sustainable and secure national development in the future.
At the workshop, delegates discussed a wide range of related topics, including the impact of AI on daily life and the cybersecurity threat landscape, the application of AI in cybersecurity, AI architecture in enterprises, and measures to safeguard AI systems.
The workshop provided a forum for participants to exchange experiences, models and technological solutions to ensure the safe and effective deployment of AI, while also contributing to improving policy frameworks, governance mechanisms and technical standards in line with Vietnam’s practical conditions and international practices.
