Strengthening cooperation between Vietnamese and Lao Public Security Forces

Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung, Chairman of the Vietnam – Laos Friendship Association in the Public Security Forces for the 2025-2030 period, hosted a meeting with a delegation of the Laos – Vietnam Friendship Association led by Lao Minister of Technology and Communications and Chairman of the Laos – Vietnam Friendship Association Prof. Boviengkham Vongdara, on the morning of September 1, in Hanoi.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung welcomed Professor Boviengkham Vongdara and the delegation to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, affirming that the cooperation between the Public Security Forces of the two countries has positively develop in the fields of security, police, training, logistics and technology, making important contributions to ensuring security and order in each country, as well as to the stability in the region.

The host revealed that the two sides are jointly implementing a project to build the National Population Database and citizen ID-cards systems for Laos, creating a basis for the Lao Government to build a digital government, a digital economy and digital governance.

He added that the two ministries are expected to break ground on the Security Command Center of the Lao Ministry of Public Security by the end of 2025.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that these projects have become symbols of the special solidarity between the two sides, contributing significantly to building the Lao Public Security Forces as a more regular, elite and modern force.

For his part, Professor Boviengkham Vongdara expressed his deep thanks to the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security for its great support for the Lao Ministry of Public Security over the past years.

He affirmed that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam-funded projects, assistance programs and training courses implemented by the Vietnamese side not only enhance the capacity of the Lao Public Security Forces but also serve as vivid evidence of the faithful and special relationship between the two countries.

The guest stressed that Laos will continue to foster and further develop the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, so that the bonds between the two Public Security Forces will be continuously expanded, contributing to maintaining security, peace and development in each nation and across the region.
