
Vietnam willing to make its part to building a peaceful, stable and sustainable world
Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung has recently had a series of separate meetings with officials from relative U.S. agencies and UN bodies to deepen bilateral security and law enforcement cooperation, for the common goal of global peace and security.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung is a member of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation that accompanies State President Luong Cuong to attend the 80th United Nations (UN) General Assembly High-Level Week from September 21 to 26.

At his meeting with Director of UNODC New York Office Delphine Schantz, the two sides discussed new orientations for future cooperation between the two sides.They agreed to strengthen coordination in the fight against transnational crimes, particularly drug trafficking, human trafficking and money laundering.
Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to implementing international conventions on crime prevention, as well as called on UNODC to support Vietnam in building capacity of Vietnamese law enforcement agencies, and share best practical experience and intelligence on crime with the Vietnamese side.

Director of UNODC New York Office Delphine Schantz highly appreciated Vietnam’s achievements in crime prevention, and affirmed that UNODC is always a trusted partner of Vietnam in this field.
During the talks with UN Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to contributing more to UN peacekeeping operations.
He reiterated that Vietnamese blue berets, , including police officers, have demonstrated their professionalism, dedication and humanity, and left strong impressions at UN missions.
He suggested, the UN continue providing favorable conditions and assistance for Vietnam in training, equipping and deploying its peacekeeping forces, particularly police peacekeepers, contributing to maintaining peace and stability in conflict-affected regions.

During his meeting with U.S. Under Secretary for Arms Control and International Security Brent T. Christensen, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung stressed on the Vietnam–U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Based on particular achievements in law enforcement and security cooperation between the two countries over the past time, the two sides discussed practical measures to strengthen collaboration in arms control, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and maritime security.
Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that mutual respect for each other’s independence, sovereignty and political system serves as a solid foundation for long-term, effective cooperation between the two sides, bringing practical benefits to the two bations and contributing to peace, stability and development in the Asia–Pacific region and beyond.
