Vietnam’s MPS contributing positively to building a secure, safe and sustainable world

Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi on August 17 in Hanoi.

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang underscored that, since its  INTERPOL membership more than 30 years ago , the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam has always upheld its role as a responsible member with its goodwill and determination to cooperate in combating transnational crime, noting that Vietnamese police force has maintained its close cooperation with their counterparts in verifying and investigating transnational cases and in arresting internationally wanted fugitives.

The Minister highly appreciated the role of the INTERPOL General Secretariat in coordinating and supporting global police forces, including Vietnam’s, in issuing international wanted notices at the request of a member country, as well as in tracking fugitives and facilitating cooperation in transnational criminal investigations.

In the face of increasingly complex developments in transnational crime, Minister Luong Tam Quang proposed that President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi and the INTERPOL General Secretariat continue to support the Vietnamese police force to strengthen its cooperation and coordination with the police of other countries across the world, contributing to effectively investigating transnational cases, promptly responding to requests for information checks and data sharing, and releasing internationally wanted notices issued by the Vietnamese police.

He also suggested closer coordination in implementing INTERPOL campaigns and projects in Vietnam, particularly those on border management, control of environmental crime and cybercrime.

The Minister further requested that INTERPOL facilitate the participation of Vietnamese officers in conferences, workshops and training programs on cybercrime, terrorism, corruption, drug-related crime, money laundering, environmental crime and crimes against children.

For his part, INTERPOL President Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi extended his warm congratulations to the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security on the 80th founding anniversary of the People’s Public Security Forces of Vietnam, while highly valuing the contributions of Vietnam’s MPS as an active and responsible member of INTERPOL.

Emphasizing the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the fight against crime, INTERPOL President Al-Raisi expressed his hope that the Vietnam’s MPS will continue to play an active role in information sharing, fugitive pursuit and combating transnational crime as well as strengthen its collaboration with the INTERPOL General Secretariat and police forces of member states, contributing to a world of security, safety, stability and sustainable development.
