Delivering his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung revealed that, in the first 10 months of 2024, Vietnam welcomed more than 14.1 million international visitors, increasing by 41.3% compared to the same period last year.

The Deputy Minister stressed that the Party and State has issued various policies to create favorable conditions for foreigners to enter and reside in Vietnam, with the aim of promoting the country’s socio-economic development and international integration process.
The conference aimed to extensively evaluate the relevant public security units and agencies’ management of residency of foreigners in Vietnam in the past time, pointed out remaining shortcomings and limitations in the work, clarify their causes, and propose approaches to enhance the efficiency of the management of residency of foreigners in the coming time, as well as sought to boost the application of digital transformation into the management of residency of foreigners in Vietnam.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung underlined that the management of residency of foreigners aims to protect national security, national interests and human security, while taking into account the balance between the country’s open-door policy, administrative reforms and public order, safety.

The Deputy Minister also requested to effectively apply science and technology into the management of residency of foreigners, facilitate the entry and residence of the foreigners who come to Vietnam to invest, conduct market surveys, launch projects and travel, contributing to promoting the country’s socio-economic development, the beautiful image of the country and people of Vietnam and enhancing the country's position in the international arena.
At the conference, delegates from public security units and agencies discussed various issues regarding the work of the management of residency of foreigners, especially the analyze remaining shortcomings and limitations in the work, and proposed approaches to enhance the efficiency of the work in the coming time.
