The meeting in Hanoi saw leaders of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security and the Traffic Police Department.
A report summarizing the results of two months of carrying out an extensive campaign to ensure traffic order and safety on the occasion of the 2023 Lunar New Year and major events of the country was delivered at the conference by Director of the Traffic Police Department Major General Nguyen Van Trung.
According to the report, the Traffic Police Department actively mobilized forces and means to carry out a peak campaign to ensure traffic order and safety as well as attack criminals on traffic routes nationwide.
Traffic police officers and soldiers strictly complied with the regimes of patrolling, regulations of handling traffic violations, discipline of the People's Public Security Forces, while showing proper manners, attitudes and behavior towards people, and effectively regulating traffic flows on key roads.
From November 15, 2022 to January 12, 2023, 1,854 accidents occurred in the country; the traffic police detected and handled more than 500,000 cases of violations of traffic order and safety, and seized more than 6,000 cars, more than 128,000 motorcycles.
In addition, the traffic police force directly or in coordination with the forces detected 650 criminal cases and arrested 611 suspects on traffic routes.
At the conference, representatives of police leaders in some localities reported the traffic situation in their designated localities, and proposed measures to ensure traffic safety during the 2023 Lunar New Year.
Speaking at the Conference, on behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and leaders of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praised the traffic police force for its achievements and victories over the past two months.
Regarding major tasks in the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long asked provincial-level police departments to proactively grasp the situation in their localities during the Lunar New Year, requested leaders of the police units to directly inspect and encourage working teams of traffic police to be on duty, maintaining traffic order and safety during Tet holidays.
