The commended units included the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department, the Criminal Police Department and the Representative Office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos.

Over the past time, the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department, in coordination with the Criminal Police Department, the Representative Office of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in Laos and the Lao Public Security Forces, took synchronous professional measures to investigate a transnational criminal network using high technology to defraud people of their money in cyberspace.

The police have now arrested 59 suspects and seized 166 mobile phones, 14 computers, 200 electronic devices and numerous related exhibits.

The investigation team revealed that the suspects defrauded more than 800 victims, illegally appropriating over 15 billion VND in just 18 days after relocating their base.

This outstanding achievement demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and sharp professional expertise of the Dien Bien Police Force while implementing the directions of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security on combating organized crime and high-tech crime.

The clearance of the case reflected the effective cooperation of the Vietnamese Public Security Forces with the Lao counterpart as well as close coordination between provincial-level and under-ministerial police departments in crime prevention and control. It also helped minimize losses for people and strengthen public trust in the Public Security Forces while deterring criminals.

On behalf of the Public Security Central Party Committee and the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long commended the involved units and officers for their accomplishment.

The Deputy Minister requested the Dien Bien Provincial Police Department to coordinate with relevant agencies to expand the investigation, complete related documents as well as legal procedures, and collect evidence to prosecute all involved persons in accordance with the law.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long wished the involved units and officers more success at work in the coming time.
