Further fostering Vietnam–Laos friendship

The Representative Office of the Lao Ministry of Public Security in Vietnam hosted a gala dinner on the evening of March 20 in Hanoi to mark the 65th founding anniversary of the Lao Public Security Forces (April 5, 1961–2026) and to welcome a high-level delegation of the Lao Ministry of Public Security led by Minister Vanthong Kongmany during its visit to Vietnam.

The event was also attended by Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh, deputy ministers of public security of the two countries and leaders of functional units under the two ministries.

In his remarks, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that, over the past 65 years, the Lao Public Security Forces have continuously been developing in both quantity and quality while maintaining absolute loyalty to the Party, the State and the people of Laos.

He highlighted that generations of Lao public security officers and enlistees have overcome numerous hardships and challenges, achieved numerous accomplishments in safeguarding independence, sovereignty and national security, and firmly protected the peaceful life of the Lao people.

They have also stood shoulder to shoulder with the Vietnamese Public Security Forces in ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety in each country, he added.

The Vietnamese Minister affirmed that, based upon the foundation of the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation and strategic bond between Vietnam and Laos, the close, reliable and effective coordination between the two Ministries of Public Security has become a solid pillar, vividly reflecting the faithful and pure relationship between the two forces.

Minister Luong Tam Quang extended his warmest congratulations to the Party Committee, leadership and all officers and enlistees of the Lao Public Security Forces, expressing confidence that they will continue to uphold their proud traditions, strengthen political steadfastness, improve professional capacity, remain closely connected with the people and successfully fulfill all assigned tasks.

On behalf of the Lao Ministry of Public Security, Minister Vanthong Kongmany expressed sincere thanks the Public Security Central Party Committee, the leadership of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the entire Vietnamese Public Security Forces for the valuable sentiments and support over the past time.

He affirmed that, over the past 65 years, the Lao Public Security Forces have frequently received support and assistance from the Party, State, Public Security Forces, experts and people of Vietnam, particularly in human resource development, infrastructure development, as well as during the shared struggle for national liberation in the past and strategic cooperation at present.

Minister Vanthong Kongmany expressed his belief that, grounded on the long-standing special relationship between the two Parties, States and Public Security Forces, the cooperation between the two countries and the two ministries will continue to be nurtured and further strengthened in the years to come.

At the event, delegates reviewed key milestones in the 65-year development history of the Lao Public Security Forces, shared meaningful memories between the two forces and exchanged practical experiences in professional work.
