
Lao Cai police assist French tourist in recovering lost property
At approximately 5:00 p.m. on February 26, 2026, the Ta Van Communal Police Station received a report from Mr. Achour Sharif Louis (born in 1986, French nationality) that he had left behind a backpack containing important documents and valuables while traveling in the locality.

According to his report, at around 5:00 a.m. on February 25, 2026, Mr. Achour Sharif Louis accidentally left a backpack at the Sa Pa bus station. The bag contained an iPad, a camera, his passport and various important personal belongings.
When tracking his iPad, the tourist detected a GPS signal in Hau Chu Ngai hamlet, Ta Van commune. He subsequently reported the incident to the Ta Van Communal Police Station, asking for assistance.
Upon receiving the information on the coordinates of the tourist’s iPad, the police station promptly deployed officers to search for the lost items.
At approximately 6:00 p.m. on the same day, the police successfully located the tourist’s backpack with all of his belongings inside. The police then returned all of them to Mr. Achour Sharif Louis.
Upon receiving his property—especially his passport and important documents, the French tourist expressed deep appreciation for the professionalism, responsibility and friendly attitude of the local police officers.
The case has once again demonstrated the dedication and high sense of responsibility of the Ta Van Communal Police Station’s officers in ensuring security and order, contributing to enhancing the positive image of the Lao Cai Provincial Police Force in the eyes of local residents and international visitors.
