Minister Luong Tam Quang receives Chairman of Public Administration and Security Committee of South Korea’s National Assembly

Speaking at the meeting, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the recent successful State visit to the RoK by General Secretary To Lam had ushered in a new stage of development in bilateral relations.

Minister said that as a member of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by Party General Secretary To Lam to RoK, he had working sessions with leaders of various Korean law enforcement agencies, including the Korean National Police Agency and the Korea Coast Guard. 

During the working sessions, the two sides agreed to advance substantive cooperation through bilateral mechanisms, such as the Strategic Security Dialogue and the Deputy-Ministerial Police Cooperation Meeting, to enhance information exchange on strategic issues of mutual concern, as well as to coordinate closely in combating transnational crimes and non-traditional security threats and expand collaboration in capacity-building for law enforcement forces.

Agreeing with the views of Chairman Shin Jung Hoon on bilateral cooperation, Minister Luong Tam Quang suggested that, amid complex global developments and emerging challenges, Vietnam and the RoK should continue to strengthen political trust and broaden cooperation in diplomacy, security–defense, economy, science and technology, labor, healthcare and education so as to be on a par with the Vietnam –RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 

Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his belief that Chairman Shin Jung Hoon, with his position and prestige, will continue to support and actively promote Vietnam–RoK relations in general and the cooperation between Korean law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in particular in a more effective and substantive manner.

For his part, Chairman Shin Jung Hoon sincerely thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting and affirmed that the National Assembly of the RoK, including its Public Administration and Security Committee, will continue to support the cooperation between Korean law enforcement agencies and the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, contributing to further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
