
Minister Luong Tam Quang receives outgoing Malaysian Ambassador
Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang hosted a meeting with outgoing Ambassador of Malaysia to Vietnam Dato' Tan Yang Thai on the morning of June 11, in Hanoi.

Congratulating Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai on his successful tenure of ambassadorship in the country, Minister Luong Tam Quang highly appreciated the Ambassador’s positive contributions to promoting the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia, particularly during the period in which the two countries upgraded their relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024.
Minister Luong Tam Quang affirmed that Vietnam always regards Malaysia as one of its most important partners in ASEAN, saying that in recent years, bilateral relations have continued to develop positively across all fields, including politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, investment, defense-security and people-to-people exchanges.
Based on the strong foundation of bilateral ties, the Ministry of Public Security has continuously strengthened and expanded cooperation with Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs as well as other Malaysian law enforcement agencies.
The Minister highly appreciated the close coordination of Malaysian authorities in successfully organizing the first meeting of the Joint Working Group on Transnational Crime Prevention and Combat between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the Ministry of Home Affairs of Malaysia, as well as the active participation of the Malaysian Ministry of Home Affairs in major foreign affairs activities hosted by the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam.
In addition, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and relevant Malaysian agencies are actively stepping up the negotiation and signing of several important cooperation documents, including the Agreement on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Transnational Crime, the Extradition Agreement, and the Agreement on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons.
Minister Luong Tam Quang also acknowledged the efforts of relevant agencies of the two countries in coordinating to address issues of mutual concern.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai for his support and facilitation of exchanges between the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, the Prime Minister’s Office of Malaysia and other relevant agencies during his tenure, thereby contributing to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Luong Tam Quang expressed his hope that, in his future positions, Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai would continue to maintain his affection for Vietnam and serve as a bridge promoting the Vietnam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, making it increasingly substantive and effective for the benefit of the peoples of both countries as well as for peace, stability and development in the region.
For his part, Ambassador Dato' Tan Yang Thai thanked Minister Luong Tam Quang for the meeting and expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam for its cooperation and support for the Malaysian Embassy during his ambassadorship in Vietnam.
The Ambassador welcomed the positive developments in Vietnam–Malaysia relations, particularly the elevation of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in November 2024, and affirmed that he would continue to support and contribute to strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries, including in the fields of security and law enforcement in an increasingly practical and effective manner.
