Ministry of Public Security inaugurates memorial site dedicated to Martyr Bui Thi Cuc

Present at the ceremony were Politburo members: President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Public Security Central Party Committee and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, and Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission Le Minh Tri.

Martyr Bui Thi Cuc or Tran Thi Lan (1930–1951), born in Van Mac Village, Quang Trung Commune, Hung Yen Province, stands as an indomitable symbol of revolutionary spirit and steadfast loyalty. As a female public security officer during the resistance war against French colonialists, she lived a simple yet noble life, fighting with extraordinary determination and courage before laying down her life in the arduous struggle to defend the nation's nascent independence.

Recognizing the monumental service and heroic sacrifice of the young communist and revolutionary officer, President Ho Chi Minh signed Decree No. 77/SL on January 15, 1952, posthumously awarding officer Bui Thi Cuc the Third-Class Independence Order and the six golden words: “Heroic in Life, Glorious in Death.”

On August 3, 1995, the State President signed Decision No. 499-KT/CTN, posthumously conferring upon Martyr Bui Thi Cuc the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.

The construction of the Memorial Site reflects the deep commitment of the Ministry of Public Security and local authorities in Hung Yen to revolutionary tradition education and expressing gratitude for the heroic sacrifice of public security officer Bui Thi Cuc in safeguarding national security.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Luong Tam Quang emphasized that the inauguration was a profoundly meaningful political and cultural event. He noted that it not only honors and commemorates Martyr Bui Thi Cuc’s immense contributions to the revolutionary cause, but also marks a milestone as the site officially becomes a landmark for revolutionary tradition education for the People's Public Security Forces.

The Minister requested that the Hung Yen Provincial Police advise the Provincial Party Committee and People's Committee as well as coordinate with provincial agencies to effectively manage, operate and promote the historical value of the memorial site.

He also called on public security units and local authorities to organize political and educational activities, enabling officers, soldiers, youth union members and citizens, especially the younger generation, to visit the site, learn from it, and remember the noble sacrifice of Heroic Martyr Bui Thi Cuc and the glorious traditions of the People’s Public Security Forces.
