
MPS seeks to promote cooperation with Macao Police Forces (China)
A delegation of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) of Vietnam led by Chief of the MPS Office of the Criminal Investigation Police Agency Lieutenant General Tran Minh Tien held a meeting with Deputy Director of the Judiciary Police Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Lai Man Wai to promote police cooperation with Macao partners, on January 29, 2026.

At the meeting, Lieutenant General Tran Minh Tien stated that, in recent years, the MPS of Vietnam and the Macao Special Administrative Region Police Forces has achieved positive results of cooperation in security and crime prevention, and particularly the two sides exchanged criminal information through INTERPOL channels, immigration management and participation in multilateral mechanisms and frameworks on crime prevention and anti-money laundering.
Mr. Lai Man Wai highly appreciated the support provided by the MPS of Vietnam in verifying and clarifying a number of cases at the Macao side’s request, including the use of stolen credit cards, illegal access to personal data, and unauthorized access to email accounts, as well as the close coordination in promptly detecting and handling cases of illegal immigration involving citizens of each side.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the two heads of delegation agreed to promote the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on crime prevention and control between the police forces of the two sides; strengthen cooperation in law enforcement capacity building; intensify the exchange of criminal information; coordinate with each other in investigating and verifying criminal cases; and track fugitives through international police cooperation channels.
The two sides also agreed to regularly exchange information related to citizens of the two sides, enabling the police forces to proactively implement measures to ensure security and safety and to prevent crimes early and from afar.
